2D Artist (Mid/Senior)

Location: Canada Remote (work from home)

Work Type: Full-Time Employment

Project: Pirate Raids: Conquest 


About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled 2D Artist to join the Pirate Raids: Conquest team; a mobile collectible card game that blends tactical gameplay with rich visual storytelling. This is a hands-on, mid-to-senior role where you’ll lead the 2D art pipeline, guide a junior artist, and work directly with the Art Director to ensure visual consistency and excellence. We’re building something bold and original, and we’re seeking someone who is not only skilled in traditional and digital art, but also open to innovation and new creative workflows.


Responsibilities

  • Create polished 2D illustrations, UI elements, card art, and promotional assets for a mobile CCG.
  • Work closely with the Art Director to maintain and elevate the visual identity of Pirate Raids: Conquest.
  • Lead and mentor a junior artist by providing feedback, guidance, and support.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure that art enhances gameplay clarity and user experience.
  • Use our internally trained GenAI tools to accelerate asset creation, while contributing feedback to improve those tools.
  • Ensure consistency across all visual assets and support marketing with high-impact visuals.
     

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional 2D art experience in the game industry (mobile or indie is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and similar 2D art tools.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing environment art, characters, and UI elements.
  • Experience working in stylized and/or fantasy art styles.
  • Comfortable adopting AI-assisted workflows and improving pipeline efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in both 2D and 3D production environments.
     

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Unity or implementing 2D assets in mobile projects.
  • Familiarity with Stable Diffusion, ControlNet, or similar GenAI tools.
  • Prior mentorship or leadership experience.

Tech Artist (VFX/Animation)

Location: Canada Remote (work from home)

Work Type: Part-Time Contract

Project: Pirate Raids: Conquest 


About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Artist specializing in VFX and Animation to join the Pirate Raids: Conquest team; our upcoming mobile collectible card game. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between art and engineering by creating real-time visual effects, stylized animations, and Unity-ready tools that bring our cards, environments, and UI to life. This is a highly collaborative position for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of game development, and who thrives on pushing the visual fidelity of mobile titles. 


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement stylized 2D/3D VFX (particles, shaders, screen effects) for cards, UI, and gameplay.
  • Create and integrate 2D animations (card animations, UI transitions, FX layers) in Unity.
  • Collaborate with 2D/3D artists and game designers to ensure smooth asset integration.
  • Optimize VFX and animations for mobile performance while maintaining visual quality.
  • Develop internal Unity tools, prefabs, and templates to improve iteration speed.
  • Troubleshoot visual bugs and pipeline issues between Unity and the art toolchain.
  • Maintain consistent visual style and performance standards across all visual effects.
     

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Tech Artist, VFX Artist, or similar role in game development.
  • Strong Unity skills, with experience creating and optimizing VFX and animations for mobile.
  • Proficient with Shader Graph, Particle Systems, Timeline/Animator, and Unity scripting.
  • Experience with both 2D and 3D game assets and their integration.
  • Ability to create visually impactful effects within technical limitations (mobile focus).
  • Collaborative mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
     

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working on a collectible card game or similar genre.
  • Familiarity with 2D animation tools.
  • Experience developing artist-facing tools within Unity.
  • Exposure to GenAI workflows (not required, but a plus).

Game AI Programmer (Unity/Mobile)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Game AI Programmer with strong Unity and C# experience to join our development team for Pirate Raids: Conquest, a tactical mobile collectible card game set in a rich fantasy universe. This role requires deep knowledge of AI systems relevant to gameplay logic, agent behavior, and opponent simulation, while also being comfortable implementing those systems in Unity for a mobile environment. You’ll collaborate with designers and engineers to develop engaging AI opponents, automated systems for testing and simulation, and game mechanics that feel intelligent, fair, and challenging.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI systems for enemy behavior, card selection, and turn-based decision-making.
  • Build systems for adaptive difficulty, pattern recognition, and opponent modeling.
  • Work with designers to ensure AI supports gameplay goals and player experience.
  • Collaborate with UI and game teams to simulate actions during gameplay phases.
  • Optimize AI systems for mobile performance and scalability.
  • Develop tools or utilities to aid in AI testing, training, or tuning.
  • Support ongoing tuning of AI difficulty based on analytics and playtesting.
     

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in game development using Unity and C#.
  • Strong understanding of AI programming (decision trees, state machines, behavior trees, etc.).
  • Experience creating AI for turn-based or tactical games.
  • Experience working with Unity’s animation/event systems to coordinate AI actions.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization and mobile limitations.
  • Ability to work independently and write clean, modular code.
     

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience on a collectible card game or similar genre.
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations or heuristic systems.
  • Interest in procedural systems or rule-based content generation.

Social Media Manager (Mobile CCG)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Social Media Manager to lead all content creation, posting, and audience growth efforts for Pirate Raids: Conquest. This isn’t a passive account management role; we’re looking for someone who’s strategic, creative, and data-savvy, ready to build and execute a social strategy that drives awareness, interest, and early community growth around our mobile CCG. You’ll work closely with the founder, community manager, designers, and artists to craft compelling content and messaging that reflects the heart of the Pirate Raids Universe while resonating with mobile CCG players.


Responsibilities

  • Create and manage content for platforms including Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Develop a social media strategy with clear goals for user acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Plan and publish content calendars, including gameplay clips, card reveals, community teasers, dev updates, and behind-the-scenes looks.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and video editors to create visual and written content.
  • Track analytics, refine your strategy, and report on key social metrics.
  • Monitor trends in mobile games and CCG communities to find creative hooks and posting opportunities.
  • Own and grow our community presence, setting the tone for brand voice and player communication.
     

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing social media accounts for a game studio, and/or mobile game.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to adapt to a fun, engaging, player-first voice.
  • Strong understanding of content performance across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with image/video editing tools (Canva, Premiere, Photoshop, CapCut, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CCGs or tactical mobile games.
  • Comfortable working independently, but great at communicating with a team.
  • Experience in UA, influencer outreach, or paid media planning.
     

Nice-to-Have

  • Familiarity with mobile game monetization models, F2P design, or in-app purchase campaigns.
  • Experience managing pre-launch campaigns or community hype for indie/early-stage games.
  • Knowledge of SEO/ASO principles and how they relate to social engagement.
  • Experience working in startup environments or small creative teams.
  • A personal passion for collectible card games (bonus if you’ve built a deck or two).
